Code of conduct
How we expect every member and family to behave on Saubhagya
Saubhagya is a place for families and individuals seeking marriage in a respectful, honest and safe way. Everyone who uses the service — brides, grooms and the parents or relatives who help them — agrees to this Code of Conduct. Breaking it can lead to removal of your profile and account.
1. Be honest
- Give true details about age, marital status, children, education, job, income and family. Do not exaggerate.
- Use recent photos of the bride or groom only — no other people, celebrities or heavily edited images.
- One account per person. Do not create a second account, especially after being removed.
- If you are married, engaged or no longer looking, hide or delete your profile.
2. Be respectful
- Be polite in every interaction. A "no" is a complete answer — accept declined interests gracefully.
- No insults, threats, harassment, stalking or repeated contact after someone has said no.
- No sexual or vulgar messages, photos or requests.
- No hate speech or abuse about anyone's religion, ethnicity, caste, appearance, disability or background. You may state your own preferences, but never insult others.
3. Protect each other's privacy
- Use contact details you receive only to discuss a possible marriage.
- Never share, post or forward another member's photos, phone number or details — including on social media or WhatsApp groups.
- Do not put your own phone number, email or links in your profile text; they are shared safely after both sides accept.
- Do not record or screenshot conversations to embarrass someone.
4. Never ask for or send money
Genuine proposals never involve money requests — for travel, visas, customs fees, medical bills, gifts or "investments". Asking any member for money is grounds for immediate removal and may be reported to the police. If anyone asks you for money, stop contact and report the profile.
5. Use Saubhagya for its purpose
- No advertising, selling, recruiting, marriage-broker or agent services, surveys or political or religious campaigning.
- No collecting member details with scripts, bots or copying.
- No impersonating another person or our staff.
6. Acting for a family member
- Only create a proposal with the bride's or groom's knowledge and consent.
- Describe them truthfully and respect their decisions about who to meet.
- You are responsible for everything done through the account you manage.
7. Meet safely
Talk by phone or video first, involve family, meet in public places and follow our safety tips.
8. Report problems
Use the ⚑ Report button on any profile, or email . Reports are confidential. Use Block to stop someone contacting you. False or malicious reports are themselves a breach of this code.
9. What happens if the code is broken
Depending on how serious it is, we may: ask you to change your profile; give a warning; hide your profile; limit features; suspend or permanently remove your account without refund; keep records to prevent you returning; and, for threats, fraud or other crimes, report the matter to the police. We decide each case fairly, but our decision is final for the use of Saubhagya.
