The agreement between you and Saubhagya — please read before registering
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and (registration ), the operator of Saubhagya ("we", "us"). By registering or using the service you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Code of Conduct. If you do not agree, please do not use Saubhagya.
2. What Saubhagya is — and is not
- Saubhagya is an online marriage proposal (matrimonial) service that helps Sri Lankans and their families find and contact suitable partners. It is not a dating or casual-relationship service.
- We provide the platform, review profiles and offer tools such as search, preference match, distance and basic porondam. These are guides only; they do not predict whether a marriage will succeed.
- We do not guarantee that you will find a match, receive responses, or that any proposal will lead to marriage.
3. Who may use Saubhagya
The bride or groom must:
- be at least 18 years old;
- be legally free to marry under Sri Lankan law (or the law that applies to them) — not currently married, unless a divorce has been finalised;
- genuinely intend marriage.
A parent, sibling or relative may create and manage a proposal only with the bride's or groom's knowledge and consent. The person managing the account is responsible for it as if it were their own. You may have only one account per bride or groom.
4. Your proposal and content
- All information and photos must be true, current and of the bride or groom. Photos of other people, celebrities, group photos or edited images that change appearance are not allowed.
- Do not put phone numbers, email addresses, links or social-media handles in your profile text. Contact details are shared through the service after both sides agree.
- You keep ownership of your content. You give us permission to store it and show it to members as described in the Privacy Policy, for as long as your account exists.
- We review every new or edited profile before it is shown, and may ask for changes, refuse, hide or remove any profile or content that breaks these terms, without having to give detailed reasons.
5. Interests and contact details
When you send an interest and it is accepted (or you accept one), the two of you are matched. Contact details are then available as described in the Privacy Policy. You may use another member's contact details only to discuss a possible marriage; you must not share, publish, sell or use them for any other purpose.
6. Verification badges
"ID verified" and "Job verified" badges mean that our team checked the documents, work email or registration number provided at that time. They are a helpful sign, not a guarantee of a person's identity, character, job or intentions. Always make your own enquiries and follow our safety tips.
7. Membership, payments and refunds
- Basic membership is free. Premium membership gives extra features for a fixed period, as described on the Membership page. Prices may change; changes never affect a period you have already paid for.
- Free launch: while the free launch is running, Premium features are free for all members. We may end it at any time after giving notice on the website; Premium features then require a paid membership.
- Payment is by bank transfer (or other methods we add). Premium starts when we have confirmed that the payment reached our account. Membership does not renew automatically.
- Refunds: because Premium gives immediate access to contact details, payments are not refundable once Premium has been activated, except where the law requires, or where we could not provide the service because of our own fault. If your payment cannot be matched or Premium was not activated within 7 days, contact us and we will refund or activate it.
- Submitting a false or edited payment slip is fraud; the account will be closed and the matter may be reported to the police.
- Accounts removed for breaking these terms are not entitled to a refund.
8. Suspension and termination
You can hide your profile or delete your account at any time. We may warn you, hide your profile, limit features, or suspend or close your account — with or without notice — if you break these terms or the Code of Conduct, if we reasonably suspect a fake profile, fraud or harm to others, or if required by law.
9. Our responsibility
- We provide the service "as is" and try to keep it available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
- Members are responsible for what they say and do. We are not responsible for the conduct of any member, on or off Saubhagya, or for the outcome of any meeting, relationship or marriage.
- To the extent allowed by law, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under Sri Lankan consumer law.
10. Your responsibility
You agree to compensate us for losses or claims caused by your breach of these terms, false information you provided, or your misuse of another member's information.
11. Intellectual property
The Saubhagya name, logo, design and software belong to us. You may not copy, scrape or reuse them, or collect member information by automated means.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Important changes will be announced on the website or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Saubhagya after that means you accept the updated terms.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any complaint informally. If that fails, disputes will be decided by the competent courts of Sri Lanka.
